Life$avings: Financial Empowerment for Survivors of Domestic Violence

a special training for advocates on behalf of JWI’s Mother’s Day Project

Join fellow advocates on Zoom, Wednesday, June 7th from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. ET / 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PT, for a special training on Life$avings: Financial Empowerment for Survivors of Abuse - a trauma-informed, survivor-centered curriculum that helps women find financial independence in order to break the cycle of abuse for themselves and their children.

This training session includes an overview of the entire Life$avings curriculum, as well as an introduction to a new workshop created in celebration of Mother’s Day to empower mothers who have experienced abuse to have meaningful conversations with their children about money called, Financial Futures: Empowering Domestic Abuse Survivors and Their Children Through Financial Education (images from this workshop’s accompanying video below).

NOTE: Even if you previously attended one of JWI's Life$avings trainings, this one will focus on the new content – so we greatly encourage you to sign up.


This training is offered free of charge, and all participants will receive access to the entire Life$avings curriculum and JWI staff support.

Details

A special training session for advocates on behalf of JWI’s Mother’s Day Project where attendees can learn about the Life$avings curriculum and how to bring this to your clients. Life$avings consists of:

  • Five survivor-centered workshops, including power-points, videos, and meditations covering: budgeting, raising your credit score, financial independence, creating a healthy relationship with money, and a special session for those who work with Orthodox Jewish survivors.

  • An additional new workshop created in celebration of Mother’s Day called, Financial Futures: Empowering Domestic Abuse Survivors and Their Children Through Financial Education – to guide mothers living in shelters through meaningful financial literacy conversations with their children, empowering the next generation to control their own futures.

  • An interactive, 50-page Money Journal for each client filled with personal reflections and educational content

  • Step-by-step facilitator guides

  • Ongoing office hours and support from JWI staff

After participating in this training, you will have access to all of these materials and the knowledge to bring this program to your clients and help them take meaningful steps towards long-term economic security.
